1,000 Terabytes, or 1,000,000 GB, or
1,000,000,000,000,000 bytes 1,000 Petabytes, or 1,000,000,000 GB, or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes 1,000 Exabytes, or 1,000,000,000,000 GB, or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes 1,000 Zettabytes, or 1,000,000,000,000,000 GB, or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes. |
| It's nearing time for a Googolbyte which would be 10 followed by 100 zeroes, bytes. And, there is Nibble which is 1/2 byte or 4 bits.

| The bit (b) is the
smallest unit of information measured in computers. They represent the
"on/off" information you may have seen - of the 10011011 type. They are a
single piece of binary information, and are represented with a small case "b." Eight bits becomes a byte (B), represented by an upper case "B." It takes one byte, or 8 bits just to remember one character on your keyboard such as "A" or "1." 1,024 bytes is a kilobyte (KB), but is generally rounded off to 1,000 bytes in informal calculations and conversation. It is represented by capitals "KB." So, if you have a 1 KB file or graphic, you are looking at 1,024 bytes or or 8,192 bits.
This entire page equals 11 KB. Rounding off, the best way to remember is: bit = smallest unit of measure byte = 8 bits kilobyte = 1,000 bytes or 8,000 bits megabyte = 1,000 kilobytes gigabyte = 1,000 megabytes So, a 2 MB file = 2,000 KB file. and a 2GB file = 2,000 MB file Your hard drive capacity is usually measured in Gigabytes - such as a 1.5 gigabyte drive or a 10 gigabyte drive. A 1.5 gigabyte drive will store 1,500 megabytes, but you would be surprised how fast that is used. |
Elsewhere on WebStreetStudios.com: As many people did, I started a special 911 terrorism section. I think it was part of my effort to cope. Lots of news articles, news feeds and links.
